- Multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Bloom (Blossom & Bloom, Army of Love, Stone Horse) has a new album, Best Of, out on vinyl April 5, with an album release show the same afternoon at Winston’s. The album collects tracks from throughout Bloom’s long storied career, going back to the 1980’s.
- March 21st, 22nd and 23rd in 2025. ‘90s era post-hardcore trio Boilermaker has a 41-song / 4xLP box set, Not Enough Time To Get Anything Halfway Done, out this month, via the label, Numero Group. The new release collects the band’s complete discography: three albums, singles, and rarities, plus liner notes by Nina Corcoran and a 24-page book. In addition to a regular edition, there will be a “breach splatter” vinyl edition limited to 300 copies, while the first 500 orders will receive a bonus 7″ containing two tracks on vinyl for the first time, “Cruel Heart” b/w “White Wash.”
- Jason Hill (Louis XIV, Convoy) produced a pair of tracks for the current film, Better Man. “Come Undone” and “Angels” both feature on the soundtrack album.

- On January 7, singer Rebecca Jade appeared on late night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, singing backup on the song “Bembe Colora,” with the Sheila E Band featuring Gloria Estefan.
- Grindcore favorites The Locust are reissuing their album, The Peel Sessions. Originally released in 2010, the updated version has been remastered by Nathan Joyner. The 16-track album was recorded on August 19, 2001, in London at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios for DJ John Peel’s iconic U.K. radio program.

- Award-winning pianist Ed Kornhauser has a pair of residencies: solo piano at Mister A’s – on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5-8 p.m. and at the Turf Supper Club on the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Sundays from 8-11 p.m., “although we do some shuffling there when necessary,” he said.
- Guitarist Chickenbone Slim hosts a blues jam every Sunday at downtown San Diego’s Prohibition, from 9 – 11 p.m.
- Former Little Hurricane drummer, Celeste “CC” Spina, is working on new music with Vic Fuentes of Pierce the Veil. “I’m recording a riot grrrrl beach pop record with Vic,” Spina said. “My new project is called Sugar Sweats and I’m drumming / lead vocals, we’re hashing out my demos in his studio.” She notes there is no band lineup just yet. “Vic is playing guitar (on the demos). I’m guessing I’ll form an all-girl touring act when we are done writing.” Plans are for an EP later this year. “He has heavy touring this year so it might be difficult with timing, but it’s slowly coming together for sure,” Spina said.
- Iconic U.K. group, The Waterboys, have a new release out on April 4, Death and Dennis Hopper. The concept album, in part about the legendary actor and former San Diegan, includes special guests Bruce Springsteen, Fiona Apple, Steve Earle, and Taylor Goldsmith.
- Swami John Reis (RFTC, Hot Snakes etc.) heads out on tour opening on April 5 in Seattle and ending up on April 19 in Brooklyn.

- Guitar legend Wayne Riker (2019 SDMA Lifetime Award recipient) has a new guitar instruction book out, 100 Advanced Blues Licks For Guitar, via publisher, Match My Sound.
- Hawaiian-themed combo Slack Key Ohana will be playing two nights of Arizona Tiki Oasis, in Scottsdale, on April 25 & 26.

- OB reggae favorites Slightly Stoopid will be amongst the performers at this year’s prestigious Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee on June 12. Also on the bill: former Fallbrook resident Dave Mustaine and his group, Megadeth. In further Slightly Stoopid news, their 2003 album, Everything You Need, was recently reissued on red vinyl, by Surfdog Records.

- Madfish Records is reissuing a box set from iconic heavy metal band, W.A.S.P. Out on January 31, The 7 Savage: 1984-1992, includes live tracks recorded at the California Theatre on March 8, 1987.
