Daring Greatly Releases Vinyl

On Jan 31, Daring Greatly held an album release party at the Music Box Downtown. The house was packed as the boys hit the stage in support of their vinyl record “Let it Ride.” More and more bands are choosing to record vinyl albums now, and I can’t figure it out! Hard-core vinyl aficionados insist that it sounds head and shoulders above digital, and they may have a point seeing as how much streaming services compress their recordings.

The Saint Cecelia!

The opening band The Saint Cecelia kicked ass with a slightly vintage rock sound with plenty of energy. They came all the way from Costa Rica and were very humble and appreciative of the crowd as they showed their love for the band. The singer mentioned they had played San Diego before as a part of the Waterfront Festival and was hopeful to play again soon. So, keep your eyes out for The Saint Cecelia if you want to see a cool, fun new band from Mezzo America!

Daring Greatly absolutely killed it as they always do with their unique Americana/Country style of rock with of course, a Canadian flair. I’m beginning to think that these guys are the best band in San Diego, I really do! Their vocal harmonies are unsurpassed and on par with anything coming out of Hollywood, Memphis or Nashville. And these are not autotune harmonies by the way, these are the real deal. Real harmonies are not perfect, they fluctuate minutely and create an organic resonation that cannot be created digitally. This resonation is beautiful, and Daring Greatly has mastered it.

Daring Greatly’s songwriting and performance are top shelf as well, which leads me to believe they are San Diego’s top band. Also, the subject matter is deep and personal, and the lyrics are very understandable which is another huge plus. This makes the new album something you can sit back with and enjoy over and over. And isn’t that what it’s all about?

Emily Bartell of Bar None Productions was recently up at the NAMM show where Daring Greatly was performing on the outdoor patio. She was passing out flyers promoting the album release show in San Diego. These three guys grabbed a flyer and decided to show up at the gig! Promotion works!
