San Diego Comic Fest returns on October 25-27, taking place this year at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa (5480 Grand Pacific Drive, Carlsbad).
Founded in 2012, San Diego Comic Fest includes everything a pop culture fan needs for a great weekend: panel discussions; guest programs; an artist alley; tabletop gaming; cosplay; steampunk; and an exhibitor hall with all manner of collectables, including comics, books, and toys.
This year the gathering has two themes, celebrating 100 Years of Harvey Kurtzman, perhaps best known his work with Mad Magazine, and 100 Years of Rod Serling, creator of TV’s Twilight Zone, Night Gallery and more.
Meanwhile, Guest of Honor at the event will be acclaimed artist Rick Geary, whose artwork locally is practically synonymous with The San Diego Reader, where his art ran weekly for decades. Amongst the other notable guests are artist Scott Shaw! (Captain Carrot, The Flintstones etc.), comics legend Mike Royer (Disney, New Gods etc.), underground comics artist Mary Fleener, LuAnn cartoonist Greg Evans, the creator of Too Much Coffee Man, Shannon Wheeler, and animator Willi Ito (Bugs Bunny, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear etc.).
Anyone who enjoys comics will love San Diego Comic Fest’s intimate, relaxed atmosphere and opportunity to meet and mingle with legendary creators.
