Americana/Country Pop singer Lissa Dee is working on her debut album at Pacific Beat Studios, recently releasing a single for the song, “Home Like Montana.” She next performs on January 5 at Beaumont’s Eatery in Bird Rock and on January 15 at The Tipsy Crow in the Gaslamp Quarter.
“I’ve got seven additional songs, and counting, that I’ve co-written with some amazing songwriters such as Taylin Rae, Gregg Montante, and Johnny Garcia (producer, songwriter, and guitarist of Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood) that I plan to release over the next year,” Dee said.
“Home Like Montana” owes its creation to both family and a television show.
“Being that my husband’s family are cattle ranchers, we fell in love with the show Yellowstone,” Dee said. “I re-watched the past seasons this year, getting ready for the newest season to drop. This time around, after knowing more about the ranching community, I felt much more immersed in the show,” she continued.

“Also, as a songwriter, we can easily place ourselves in other people’s stories. I started wondering if a place I’ve never been to and a place I’ve only seen in pictures and movies could feel more like my home than California. I started to imagine myself at the rolling hills of Montana, away from city life. I imagined what it would be like to be in a place where people are so proud of their area code (406) that it’s like a brand to them. I started longing to live in a place where people were very proud to say they were ‘born and raised’ there, instead of proud to call themselves a ‘transplant,’ as many San Diegans are. I loved the idea of a simple life filled with cowboys and horses.”
