Golden Chopsticks – San Diego’s Hidden Gem

Golden Chopsticks, located at 8155 Mira Mesa Blvd #9 in San Diego, is a true gem for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine. My wife and I recently dined there, eager for our favorite chicken wings, and opted for Family Dinner #1 for two. We swapped out the sweet and sour chicken for their famed chicken wings for a small upcharge—and it was well worth it!

The family dinner came loaded with comforting dishes that showcased Golden Chopsticks’ generous portions and bold flavors. Our meal began with a warm bowl of corn soup, followed by an assortment of appetizers, including crispy egg rolls, savory barbecue pork, and perfectly fried wontons with sweet and sour sauce for dipping. The main dishes arrived with fanfare: pork chop suey packed with fresh vegetables, flavorful fried rice, and, of course, the star of the night—those crispy, golden-brown chicken wings coated in garlic and onions.

Over time, we’ve become friends with the restaurant’s welcoming management, whose service always enhances our experience. The atmosphere feels like a warm embrace, and the dishes consistently deliver an authentic taste that’s surprisingly rare in San Diego. While their chicken wings are a favorite, we also highly recommend the salt and pepper pork chops and any of the noodle dishes, which are all crowd-pleasers.

Golden Chopsticks is a delightful spot for a relaxed dinner with big portions, bold flavors, and a genuine feel of Chinese cuisine. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, this spot will leave you satisfied and eager to come back for more!
