Michael Savastano is the President of Hospitality and General Manager at Lakehouse Resort at Lake San Marcos and on this day is showing off the newly revamped Brickmans Restaurant & Bar located in the clubhouse of the golf course. “I’ve been here about a year and a half, I was with Hyatt Hotels for almost two decades. But I’m part of this community – I’m a homeowner here – so it was a natural fit to stay put and be a part of this resort,” noted Savastano.

He says the restaurant as well as the menu has been renovated to reflect a new attitude, one that combines high-end options with familiar favorites. One that serves quality food and drink, without being pretentious or stuffy. And one that welcomes all guests period.

“We’re extremely tied to this community,” he added, “So we have the golf cart guests that cruise on over from the homes right here on the golf course that visit us here. And we really wanted to create something that was for the people – all the people of San Marcos – Brickmans is really an ode to everybody that really built this community brick by brick and we wanted to create something that was still affordable were you can get a decently priced beer, a great hand held – so a great burger – something cold to drink, and you can come do it twice a week without breaking the bank which is such a rarity now. So that’s really the concept behind Brickmans, all the while featuring great sports on TV, a laid back atmosphere, and kinda that place where everyone knows your name!”
The menu includes everything from steak bombs to chicken wings, hummus to potato skins, and the giant pretzel to spicy parmesan sage fries. Savastano says that’s what he likes about Brickmans and what keeps guests coming back for more. “I call the ambiance ‘elevated casual’, it’s the kinda place where classic rock and 90s tunes are playing, and you can get a cold beer and then go hit a bucket of balls. You don’t always get that at places, we’re not stuffy, we’re cooler then that!”
