Bellamy’s in Escondido

Grand Avenue in Escondido has become a nightlife Mecca within the last decade with its plethora of restaurants, taprooms and theaters. And the restaurants are not greasy-spoon diners, more and more high-end four-star eateries now populate the downtown area with all sorts of culinary choices. One of these places is Bellamy’s on the west side of the avenue which features a very cosmopolitan menu.

The interior is posh featuring wooden floors and tables, and leather chairs to set off the motif. The lighting is subdued, but not dark. It has the look of an exclusive restaurant and reservations are available – but not required – so walk-ins are typically welcome. The menu features a wide range of classics as well as appetizer-style bites which are unique as well as tasty.

On the high end of the menu is a balsamic glazed filet mignon with garlic-potato puree, spinach-prosciutto fondue, sweet potato shoestrings, and bone marrow butter. Other choices include an herb marinated pork loin with cashew gremolata and a madeira-mustard seed reduction. Or you can opt for the oven roasted chicken breast with caramelized baby carrots and cauliflower. The presentation is spectacular with any dish and the quality is impeccable.

Seafood lovers can order the crispy skin seabass or cioppino and pair it with a bottle of chardonnay from Bellamy’s extensive and on-point wine list. Al fresco aficionados can dine outdoors in the private patio out back decked out with umbrellas, tablecloths and market lights. On weekends and featured nights, live music is performed in this exclusive area where diners can enjoy the tunes while sipping glasses of wine and munching on crispy brussels sprouts with smoked bacon.

Bellamy’s has all the class of an exclusive restaurant without the attitude, and that creates a very welcoming environment to enjoy a meal. The lighting is subdued as well as the volume level, which makes for a pleasant atmosphere for conversation; perfect for date night. It also features a separate barroom for those who want to drop by and enjoy a beer and a quick bite while keeping an eye on the game. If you’re in Escondido, drop by Bellamy’s for a delicious time.
