Every once in a while, you have a meal that sticks with you—not just for the food, but for the whole experience. That’s exactly what we had at Duke’s La Jolla, perched above the sparkling waters of La Jolla Cove.

We were lucky enough to sit in the best seats in the house—outdoor patio, closest to the beach—with a front-row view of the ocean. Sunshine, crashing waves, and a cool breeze set the tone. The staff? Absolutely top-notch—friendly, attentive, and accommodating from start to finish.

My brother and I both ordered the Local Moco, a Hawaiian comfort food favorite. This dish features a ½ lb Angus chuck & brisket burger patty served over jasmine rice, topped with a fried egg, and covered in rich mushroom gravy. It’s bold, savory, and oh-so-satisfying.

My niece went with the Fish Tacos, and according to her, they were absolutely amazing. Served on corn tortillas from El Nopalito, the tacos came loaded with tomatillo sauce, crisp cabbage, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and a side of tortilla chips. Fresh, flavorful, and vibrant—she loved every bite.

What sets Duke’s apart is the way it blends exceptional food, genuine hospitality, and a world-class view into one seamless experience. Whether you’re a local or visiting San Diego, this is a must-stop spot in La Jolla.
