January 3 – Wyld Gooms with Ray Brandes / The Casbah, Little Italy

A terrific night of garage rock and roll, A Tribute to the Tell-Tale Hearts, will feature modern-day combo, The Wyld Gooms, joined by former Tell-Tale Hearts frontman Ray Brandes for a run through some classic tunes such as “Just A Matter of Time” and “Crawling Back To Me.” The Sound Reasons open the proceedings with DJ and former Flamin’ Groovies drummer Victor Penalosa spinning discs between bands.
January 11 – Shemekia Copeland / Humphrey’s Backstage Live, Shelter Island

Touring in support of her latest album, Blame it on Eve, blues singer Shemekia Copeland performs at Humphrey’s Backstage Live on January 11. Most recently, in 2022, Copeland won the Blues Artist of the Year honor at the prestigious annual Downbeat Critics Poll. For blues fans, it doesn’t get better than this, with Copeland a commanding presence both on record and onstage.
January 10 & 11 – Louis XIV / The Casbah, Little Italy

It’s been roughly twenty years since they first made a splash, but rockers Louis XIV are back for a pair of intimate shows at The Casbah on January 10 and 11. Recent performances have seen the band still firing on all cylinders, so hopefully, new recordings are ahead, but in the meantime, it’s always great to hear the hits, such as “Finding Out True Love Is Blind,” one more time.
January 14 – Burton Cummings / Belly Up Tavern, Solana Beach
One of the great singers and songwriters of the early 1970s, Burton Cummings stops in at the Belly Up Tavern on January 14. On his own, he’s likely best known for his 1976 hit, “Stand Tall,” but it’s his string of classics with the Guess Who on which his legend is based: “American Woman,” “Undun,” “These Eyes,” “No Time,” “Clap For The Wolfman,” and more, still sound as great as they did when they first hit the airwaves.
January 18 – Django Reinhardt Birthday Celebration / Sunshine Brooks Theatre, Oceanside
An evening of gypsy jazz with Pino Noir and Friends, featuring Los Angeles-born guitarist Luca Pino, plus The Garner Trio. Belgian guitarist Reinhardt, who passed away in 1953, remains one of the most influential musicians of all time, with many of the songs in his repertoire now considered to be standards. Another great event from the Six String Society.
