Music Box Anniversary

Downtown’s Music Box is celebrating its 9-year Anniversary with a special outdoor block party on September 14, taking place right in front of the acclaimed venue. The party will shut down a whole block of India Street, between A and Ash, making room for an epic stage, food and retail vendors, a VIP area, a bar with craft drinks, and fun activities.

The event will be headlined by the kings of soft rock, Yachtley Crew, with the support act being local favorites, Radio Thieves. Yachtley Crew is one of the great musical success stories of the past decade, their spot on covers of Top 40 hits from the 1970’s and early 1980’s and fun stage presence have made them festival favorites, regularly selling out venues across the country. Yachtley Crew recently released their debut EP, Seas the Day, featuring five classic covers and their first original, “Sex On The Beach,” which sounds like it could’ve been a hit on the radio back in the day alongside the other songs on their set list.

Founded in 2015, the 700-capacity Music Box has built its reputation on its state-of-the-art sights and sounds, with a 40-foot video screen, good sightlines from all three levels, and excellent food and beverages. Helmed by General Manager Joe Rinaldi, the Music Box is firmly established as one of the best places to see and hear music in San Diego, with a diverse booking policy that mixes music legends with rising stars, tribute bands and the best in local talent.

With Yachtley Crew topping the bill on September 14, The Music Box has a special request. “We would like everyone who has ever geeked out to YC to wear their best white nauticals and join us for a yacht rock sing along to reflect on what’s become of Yachtley, and what’s become of Music Box!” said the venue’s Marketing lead, Iris Pulsingay. “This fun block party is our way of showing appreciation to the local community for showing us support over the past nine years.”
