Lissa Dee / A New Tribute, Tour and Tunes!

Country singer Lissa Dee is working on new original music for release later this year, with sessions set for this Spring in Nashville. Notably, she recently had a song she co-wrote with singer-songwriters Sammy Listoe and Nikki Allen, “No Good For Me,” recorded by Listoe for an upcoming release. On February 13, Dee will be part of an excellent three band bill at the Holding Company showcasing country music, also featuring Elizabeth Bowersox and The Croome Brothers.

“I started writing songs for fun in my bedroom in my early 20s,” Dee recalled. “I never imagined that one day I’d be writing with exciting up-and-coming artists and people seriously pursuing careers in songwriting, let alone having another artist record a song we wrote together. It’s incredibly exciting, especially because Sammy Listoe, is a breakout artist in San Diego, and I know he’s going to keep doing great things in this industry. I’m also recording a song we wrote for me this spring. This industry is all about supporting one another and finding ways to lift each other up, and I’m grateful to be surrounded by such an amazing, supportive group of friends, artists, and musicians.”

What is Dee looking forward to the most at the show on the 13th? “Elizabeth Bowersox and I have both been traveling back and forth to Nashville, and after her most recent visit she reached out with an idea to start a Honky Tonk Night here in San Diego, modeled after many of the spots in Nashville,” Dee said. “It instantly clicked, because it was an idea I’d been thinking about too. It felt really special to be on the same page with another country artist in San Diego.”

She considers that curating and planning music events is something she truly loves. “I’ve hosted a few in San Diego already to showcase some of my favorite local artists, including Ash Easton, Jessie Lark, Sammy Listoe, Chloe Lou, Ashley E. Norton, and of course my own band.”

Planning events and curating themed lineups like the Holding Company show is a lot of work, but Dee enjoys it. “Elizabeth and I have been deep in it for weeks now,” she said. “Just yesterday I joked that I’ve been talking to her almost as much as my sister during my wedding planning. We’re both so excited to show San Diego just how big the country music community is here, while also showcasing our new music and our favorite line-dancing and two-stepping songs.”

In addition to working on her own music, Dee has recently started a new band, Heart Like A Truck! A Tribute to Lainey Wilson. What inspired Dee to start a tribute show? “Honestly, Lainey Wilson herself inspired the tribute,” Dee said. “She’s talked about how when she was coming up in music, she did a Miley Cyrus tribute and played at little girl’s birthday parties and toured all over the world while she was trying to make it. And I started thinking about how much she inspires me and that I know so many of her songs that I should just start doing a tribute of her.”

Dee plans to spend much of 2026 on the road, with dates currently booked through summer, with a growing list of shows set for California, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Texas, Florida and Hawaii, where she’ll be performing at the Maui Rodeo on July 4. “Someone asked how long I’m going to go for, and I said “til the wheels fall off baby!,” Dee said good naturedly.
